What’s up with 3 British Museum sculptures of a bull being pinched in the testicles by a horseshoe crab?

25 July 2009 Comments

At the British Museum I saw several sculptures of bulls in some sort of conflict with a person. In each of these I also noted the fact that at the bottom of the sculpture a horseshoe crab was pinching the bulls testicles. These sculptures are always of a bull in some sort of conflict. I saw probably 3 examples of this and I cannot figure out why. It seems pretty childish but these are old sculptures and probably simbolizes something. No one at the museum that I asked could explain this. The curiousity is killing me!!
