What are some interesting and weird saltwater fish I can keep together in a well astablished?
65 gallon, wet dry, reef, lots of reef live rock. good deep sand bed, lots of alge, great heat, light and such. good circulation from 2 powerheads. I bought a cool horseshoe crab and 2 camel shrimp and 1 chocolate chip star fish, 2 3 stripe damsels, and 2 cute blue and gold damsels, . now what can I get thats cool interesting and will get along good with all the other fish I get. grow at the same rate, eat about the same foods, not eat each other, not harras each other either. Answer ASAP thanks. Did I mention that its set up in a Kids Day Room at a very prestigeous hospital??? I want interesting hardy great fun fish and inverts. Thanks.
yes but they require a sea anenome right? I just googled them and those buggers are bad. They sting all the other fish and eat them. I also thought that clown fish would be great especially since Finding Nemo is such a hit but??>>>>>>
okay big goura, do all those fish you mentioned get along good with each other. I have read some weird stuff online and it is kind of confusing. The damsels stay, cause the kids saw them and said WOW cute and the star fish has been in there for 1 year so he stays too. I just put the others in and also bought a fox fire to help eat the bristle worms that kind of took over. I bought an arrow crab too because the pet shop said they eat those bristle worms. The kind of appeared in the tank after I put the horse shoe in there. I guess he chased them to the sands top and now they are bad. What else shouls I add??? I read alot of confusing things about the clowns but want to get one and a Dora, too. I want a mandarine because I was told they do not eat verts but help clean the bottom. So is that all good. God I hope so. I can’t mess this one up. Those sick kids are counting on me to help clean up that tank. I am also putting in 2 bubble volcanos, fake coral, lite up illumineries and more so.

i got JUST the perfect fish for the kids, NEMO fish!!! which is called "Clown Fish" kids will LOVE it especially if they’ve watched the movie " Finding Nemo"
edit:
i just wanna know why all the freakin thumbs down, you know it was a suggestion and it was not bad. idiots.
They don’t need an anemone to host. They’ll host anything that’s available. I’ve heard of them hosting power heads, and veggie clips before. We just adopted a pair today, and ours seem to be hosting a corner. Clown fish can be mean, though, and depending what kind of clown, they get to different sizes. If you get 2, then if there’s a larger one, then that’s the female, and the smaller one is the male.

I know you’re asking BIG Goura, just wanted to add that "Dori" is a powder blue tang, aka hippo tang, and it’s usually recommended they go into a 75gal or more, so I’d say no for that. And before you ask about the rest of the Nemo cast, no for the puffer (tank too small, unless you go with a Cathigaster sp., but they don’t look like the stereotypical puffers, anyway), and no for the moorish idol (the guy with the scar in the dr’s office tank). Also no for the mandarin unless it’s a very established tank. They eat copepods (invertebrates), and usually only a well established aquarium has enough to feed them; unless you can find one that takes frozen food, but then they’d need to be fed very often, minimum once a day.
you don’t need a anemone for clowns, they would prefer one but it’s nothing they must have. also other fish usually leave the anemone alone and don’t bother it, but they aren’t as hardy as clowns or damsels are.
anemone’s need higher light requirments, and GOOD water quality or it will slowly die!
but yes i would definalty put a Ocellaris Clownfish (paar) inside, since ALL kids that have seen "finding Nemo" would love them!
Well, others seem to love the clown fish. I personally have a love for the balloon fish. They are docile fish that mingle with others and have live birthing. The kids will love them and they are very easy to take care of.
1st. get rid of the striped damsels, they (and every member of the genus dacyllus) is nothing but trouble..
also you said this tank was a reef? get rid of the choco’chip star as they will eat polyps and other reef inhabitants.. look into fromia starfish instead, a much better choice…
as for fish, you can get much weirder than cardinal fish, a pair or trio of bangai or pajama cards would be fun and interesting to a bunch of kids..
for a little action maybe a fairy wrasse and 2-3 chromis
royal grammas are another colorful fish that’s sure to be a crowd pleaser, and the aforementioned clownfish.. simply beacuse of finding nemo, the EXPECT on tho be in there (seriously, i showed my little cousin my tanks and they’re like "where’s nemo?"… lol you have to find him first)
P.S. clownfish don’t host… does the host of the party go to the people? no. the anenome is the host and the one hosting…
