Flame scallop won’t bring out its "flames"?

30 November 1999 Comments

I just got a new flame scallop (Lima scabra) and it was just fine when i got it. After introducing it into my tank, it doesnt bring out its flames any more. It opens but the flames don’t leave its shell. I’d like to know why this is so? Is it normal for a new flame scallop to do this? Thanks.

Check your water peramiters they are a fillter feeder and should have a good flow if you just added it give it a week or so but ussually the will come out in a day or so

Has anything been nipping at it? Also, what are your Nitrates at? Issues with either one of these may cause the scallop to retract its tentacles.
