My firefish turned up dead last week and he slept in a small hole in a rock. i don’t know how he died but his tail was all torn up. I do have other fish but they are not aggressive towards each other. Then today one of my fish was also floating and his tails are all torn up and he has a popped eye right now. Hopefully he will survive, but is it my crabs that are doing this to him? He sleeps in a seashell everynight and crabs could go in and out of there. Are crabs vicious??? They are red and blue legged small crabs. By cleaner shrimp also went missing and dead a few weeks ago after I got crabs about a month ago

yes fish is the crabs natural diet,
they sure will
Red And Blue leg hermit crabs do NOT kill fish, they will eat a fish or anything else that is already dead.
There diet consists mostly on algae, ditrious, leftover food…
I would check your water peramiters and if you have live rock, check to see what comes out of it at night???
There are some types of crabs that DO hunt small fish at night.
I agree with 0 hermits don’t kill fish. They will pick on dead ones though.
How long has your tank been up and running? If your tank is less than 6 weeks-6 months it can and more than likely be your water quality. What are the readings in your tank? Do you have live rock?
It is difficult to tell what killed your fish without more info. Feel free to email me and I will try to help.
Hermits don’t kill fish. There is something else going on in your tank. Have you tested the water?
