Are firefish gobys better in pairs?

I have a saltwater 55 gallon tank. I want to put in firefish gobies but i dont know how many i should put in. I have nothing in the tank yet but plan on fully stocking it. Are they better single are with another not a mated pair though.
You can keep them singly, 2 in a 55 gallon tank will have no problems but you can keep them singly if you want.
